چکیده

Soil constitutes a fundamental resource for the production of food and fiber, thereby meeting diverse human needs sustaining global ecosystems. compaction electrical conductivity are key soil properties that can significantly impact health contribute to environmental challenges. The findings study shed light on severity compaction, with highest cone index 4495 kPa value recorded at depth 225 mm in sandy loam soil. This highlights potential limitations root growth nutrient uptake, which have implications plant productivity overall ecosystem. Furthermore, examined soil, serves as an indicator salinity. Elevated levels lead adverse effects such reduced crop yields stress. Bulk density was increased (1.4 1.73 Mg/m3) well moisture content decreased (7.6 4.3 %). Understanding range values observed (11 29 mS/m) helps assess extent salinity-related challenges studied region. By establishing regression equations between like bulk content, provides valuable insights into underlying relationships its implications. coefficient determination (R2) 0.99 0.95, respectively. These assist development strategies mitigate degradation, promote sustainable land management practices, address concerns related health.

Impact of Distillery Effluent and Salts on Hydraulic Conductivity of a Sandy Loam Soil

Irrigation with distillery effluent, besides influencing crop yield, may have considerable impact on physical properties of soil because of its high salt and organic carbon contents. This experimental study was conducted to evaluate the effect of distillery effluent on hydraulic conductivity of a sandy loam alluvial soil and compare the effect of inorganic salts of potassium (K) with that of di...

Effect of Varying Rates of Organic Amendments on Porosity and Infiltration Rate of Sandy Loam Soil

Infiltration rate and porosity of sandy loam soil amended separately with goatyard manure (GYM) and poultry waste at 30, 50 and 70 tonnes/hectare each were investigated and the results were statistically analyzed using SPSS ver 17 package. Infiltration rates under GYM amendment and poultry waste amendment showed significant difference (p≤0.01), indicating that the variation of infiltration unde...

Assessment of chromium fixation capacity of sandy loam soil

The adsorption of chromium species in soils has received much attention because of its toxicity and bioavailabilities, which are adsorption depended. There are very little studies on adsorption of chromium in sandy loam soil. Hence, this paper presents the Cr adsorption capacity of sandy loam soil under chromium spiked condition. A batch technique was used to perform cr adsorption studies. Soil...

Quantifying hysteresis of atrazine desorption from a sandy loam soil.

Batch experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of initial atrazine concentrations and consecutive desorption steps on the desorption characteristics of atrazine from a sandy loam soil. As initial atrazine concentration increased, the average percentage of atrazine desorption on the sandy loam soil ranged gradually from 23.1% to 38.5% after five consecutive desorption steps. The v...
